We had a fun time on Saturday at Hayden's (Jennifer & Matt's Little Boy) Birthday party. I still can not believe he is a year old. Time sure flew past me this year.

I have to brag on Jennifer. She made this yummy looking birthday cake. Way to Cute.

Visit to Sam Houston National Forest

Ok, so I went to college in Huntsville for 4 yrs and I have lived in Spring for over 5 yrs now (really close to the Sam Houston National Forest) but the first time I had ever been there was two weeks ago. I never realised how close it actually was. We found a couple of nice multi-purpose trails. When we get the 4 wheelers working Mel, John, Tom and I have a legal place to go ride the 4 wheelers! ;o)

As we were driving through the Park Rangers were having a controlled burn... very close to the road. I was able to get a few interesting photos:
*Funny* The sign above says Prevent Forest Fires!

We also found a few Blue Bonnets (after all the fire this was a nice treat!)

Houston Rodeo - Dierks Bentely

Still updating with past photos... only a month behind now (Whoo hoo!)

Mel, John, Tom and I had a great time at the Houston Rodeo in March. We found a great place to park close to the Sam's and we took the tram to Reliant Park. That was the first time we had the chance to ride on the Houston tram system. Definitely will park in the same place next year. Dierks Bentely performance was good and I always love to see the calf scramble!

Found this link to Dierks most recent video for those who may not recognize his name:

More Carter Photos

Mommy and Daddy went on a cruise at the end of February and I was the lucky person babysit Carter while they were away. Carter was such a good baby while staying at our house. Makes taking care of babies look easy but I think Mommy told him to be a good boy just for Aunt Tammy. LOL

Here are my favorite photos and video clip:

This was Saturday morning... I was trying to wake him up.

We are starting early... Go Aggies. ;o)

Happy Friday - Some Texas Humor

I personally like 8 through 11. I sure do love okra!

Things I learned living in Texas .
1. A possum is a flat animal that sleeps in the middle of the road.
2. There are 5,000 types of snakes and 4,998 of them live in Texas .
3. There are 10,000 types of spiders. All 10,000 of them live in Texas , plus a couple no one's seen before.
4. If it grows, it'll stick ya. If it crawls, it'll bite cha.
5. "Onced" and "Twiced" are words.
6. It is not a shopping cart, it is a buggy!
7. "Jaw-P?" means "Did ya'll go to the bathroom?"
8. People actually grow and eat okra.
9. "Fixinto" is one word.
10. There is no such thing as "lunch". There is only dinner and then there is supper.
11. Iced tea is appropriate for all meals and you start drinking it when you're two. We do like a little tea with our sugar.
12. Backwards and forwards means "I know everything about you."
13. The word "jeet" is actually a phrase meaning "Did you eat?"
14. You don't have to wear a watch, because it doesn't matter what time it is, you work until you're done or it's too dark to see.
15. You don't PUSH buttons, you MASH EM.
16. "No. Jew?" is a common response to the question "Did you bring any beer?"
17. You measure distance in minutes.
18. You switch from heat to A/C in the same day.
19. All the festivals across the state are named after a fruit, vegetable, grain, insect or animal.
20. You know what a "DAWG" is.
21. You carry jumper cables in your car --- for your OWN car.
22. You only own five spices: salt, pepper, Tony's, Tabasco and Ketchup.
23. The local papers cover national and international news on one page, but require 6 pages for local high school sports and motor sports, and gossip.
24. You think that the first day of deer season is a national holiday.
25. You find 100 degrees Fahrenheit "a bit warm".
26. You know all four seasons: Almost summer, summer, still summer, and Christmas.
27. Going to Wal-Mart is a favorite past time know as "goin' Wal-Martin" or "off to Wally World".
28. You describe the first cool snap (below 70 degrees) as good chicken stew weather.
29. Fried catfish is the other white meat.
30. We don't need no dang driver's Ed. If our mama says we can drive, we can drive dag-nabbit.
31. You understand these jokes and forward them to your Texas friends and those who just wish they were from Texas.

New Nike Gadget

I just love Gadgets! I bought a Nike+ Ipod Sport Kit yesterday. This is a cool little gadget. I put the sensor in my new Nike shoes, plug in an receiver into my Ipod and it tracks how far and what my pace is. Then I can load it all into the Nike Website and it tracks my progress. On the right side column of this blog I have loaded the Nike summary, Tom's and my first run data with the sensor is logged. Pretty darn cool if you ask me. Although now, you will know if I don't get off my lazy butt and exercise. uh, oh! ;o)

Here is the product info for the Nike Ipod/Sensor Gadget:

Grandpa Sims Birthday Celebration

We had a good time celebrating Grandpa's 85th birthday in February.

Nieces - Katy Kristy and Madison

We are still in catch up mode on the blog posts... like normal.
Here are a few pictures from our trip to Victoria in January. These girls are fun to be around and definitely can keep us grown up kids occupied.

When Katy, Kristy and Madison all get together a game of chase usually happens. It is funny to watch and they are very noisey!

Chicago trip Pictures

Jan 2008 Trip (A little Behind..)
Tommy had to go for work so I tagged along. Lovely city but it is kinda cold in the winter. LOL. Of course, it was not as cold as Norway in December. Thank goodness! We walked around downtown for an entire day on Friday, then we were able to get tickets to the play Wicked at the Ford Theater that night. Definitely worth the $$. Luckily for me, the hotel I booked was right next door to Nine West Shoe Store. (Tom swore I did that on purpose, lol) I was able to find boots to replace the boots that were stolen from my suitcase on the way home from Norway at Christmas time. Yae!

Pulpit Rock Hike

My weekend adventure...

Info: Pulpit Rock or Preikestolen, Prekestolen in Norwegian, is one of the areas most biggest tourist attractions. This natural rock formation with a 25 meter squared plateau stands 604 meters above the sea. Thousands of tourists visit the Rock every year. The trip takes about two hours by foot (round trip 4 hrs), but the rock formation can also be enjoyed from the sea by boat. The original name of the rock formation is "Hyvlatonnå" - which means the tooth of a woodplane. Todays name could have its origin in the shape or possibly be due to that it might have been a place of sacrifice.

Lori took the below photo looking over the side of Pulpit Rock... I skipped the looking over the side. I saw enough to know it was a long way down. Do you see the white dots in the water? Those are large tour boats... and when I say large I mean ferry size large vessel.

Me standing as close to the edge as I was ever going to get.

This is about a 1/2 of the way up the rocks that we had to scale in one of the steep sections.

Thank goodness for flat sections. LOL! This was the swap area with a bunch of bugs. This flat section appeared about 1/3 of the way into the trip. Although it didn't stay flat for long.

Of course I have more pictures of the scenry but if I loaded them all my pictures you would be on this site forever. ;)

Stavanger, Norway

Hi, Everyone.

Here are a few pictures from Stavanger, Norway. All of the pictures were taken less than a mile from my hotel. The weather has been gorgeous. Highs of 70s and lows in 50s. The pond in the pictures below is right outside my hotel. The picture of the Raddison hotel is where we are staying.
